The then Prince Charles of Edinburgh was born at Buckingham Palace on November 14th, 1948.
The King and the Princess Royal were born the children of a daughter of the Sovereign and thus would not have been born Royal Highnesses under the Letters Patent of December 11th, 1917. King George VI, however, passed Letters Patent on October 22nd, 1948 adding the children of his elder daughter to the number of Royal Highnesses.
