“Tradition is not to preserve the ashes, but to pass on the flame.”
Attributed to Gustav Mahler (1860-1911)

The Cambridge Monarchists seek to promote interest in the Monarchy by means of regular banquets renowned for their culinary excellence.

One or two dinners are held each year, usually in Cambridge or in London. The dress code is formal (white tie or black tie for gentlemen or equivalent attire for ladies). Each dinner aims to raise a small surplus of funds which are given to a nominated charity, usually connected with one or more members of the Royal Family. Dinners are usually preceded by divine service for those who wish to attend, including prayers for the Royal Family and an appropriate address and hymns.

These events, which are by invitation, are intended for those who show support for, and interest in, the institution of the British Monarchy, its history and traditions.

The Society is widening its original member base of students, alumni and academic staff from the University of Cambridge to include other residents of Cambridge and its environs, together with representation from selected external organisations in London and elsewhere with favourable regard towards the Monarchy and tradition.
